Fans of the series may be upset to realize that many characters were not just updated, but completely redesigned. There are a few problems with these updates though.

This was so well done in fact that just by looking at the game it is easy to forget that Saints Row: The Third originally released almost ten years ago. The environment, vehicles, and characters have all been recreated with higher quality visuals. The biggest selling point for Saints Row: The Third Remasteredis the updated graphics that the title features. Saints Row: The Third Remastered sticks to its guns and faithfully recreates the city of Steelport for current generation consoles, for better or worse.
Saints Row: The Third was infamous for including things like a Lucha libre villain named Killbane, the mayor of Steelport being played by actor Burt Reynolds, and giving players a massive dildo bat to pummel foes with. The release of Saints Row: The Third in 2011 changed the public's perception of Saints Row by leaning into the absurd and ridiculous.
For many years the Saints Row franchise was regarded as a cheap knockoff of the much more successful Grand Theft Auto series.
